Default Vacum Questions

there seems to be an endless amount of vacum lines goin every which way on my mustang. two on the dist., three on the water neck, two small ones on the front of the edlbrock carb., one comin up from the transmission and one comin up from the passenger side of the motor. could someone explain to me how the vacum system works and exactly what way i need to hook the lines to. location for each one?, i also hooked up the egr into the back of the manifold. any input?

Whoa you are calling things vacuum lines that are not vacuum lines. Please post a pic of the engine.
like the water neck- you are probably talking about the radiator hose and the heater hose.
The transmission line is a vacuum line. there is only one vacuum line to the carb( to my knowledge) the other may be a pcv hose.

Vacuum lines are small rubber hoses. And you don't have EGR.

someone suggested to me that i cap some of the vacum ports off because they arent needed. Like the ones on the top of the water neck, on the very top there are three in a triangle shape.

There are never any vacuum ports on the water neck. Can you take pics?

sry, i dont have access to my camera right now. but it looks like a tree above where the big radiator hose connects into the waterneck. almost looks like it just screws down into the waterneck.

What is a water neck? I have never heard that terminology. Are you talking about the thermostat housing? If so, there isn't any vacuum hoses connected to it. In fact, there are no vacuum hoses connected to anything related to water.

haha yea, water neck= thermostat housing. i'm kinda stumped about these vacum lines and i also wouldnt think that there should be vacum lines anywhere near water. But, when i do get pics i'll post them. guess its that west virginia terminology comin out in me.
