I haven't been reubilding transmissions for over 40 years (I'm 18), but I'm with davido30093 on this one... I've never seen a "C6 with overdrive"

Mayh3m,

I have been rebuilding transmissions for over 40 years. I must have rebuilt 100 + C6s, but I never saw a C6 with overdrive.
Yeah, the C6 is a heavy duty 3 speed auto. Used in big block Ford applications up until 1996. I have never heard of a C6 with overdrive either. Could it be that an AOD has been added somehow?

well now yall have me thinking. the pan on the bottom of this tranny says "ford something something overdrive". it's from an early 80s pickup. mine's on the RIGHT in this picture.

when i bought it, the guy told me the truck had a c4 in it. but this doesn't look like a c4 to me. also, someone else sold the transmission on the left to my father and told him it's a c6 w/ overdrive, and these 2 look like twins.
i cleaned the tag but i dont have it with me. i'll get those numbers as soon as i can.

How much power do you plan on making your 302 put out?? Any thing over about 350LBS/Ft of torque and you will have to beef up that T5, thats where the toploader is best.

I agree with daver. I got my T-5 from Texas Motorsports. Its the HP series rated at 400Lbs of torque in a Fox body, so maybe a little more in a lighter car.

MustangSall you can get a T5 in Fox mustangs for cheap now. Dont get a 4 cylinder one, they have a different length input shaft and a lower torque rating. Unless you are drag or road racing with a T5, they will hold up just fine with more power than they are rated for. Doing 1.6 second 60fts will kill them in short order, but you need alot of power and traction to achieve that quick of a short time. Find a 5.0L Mustang or Capri and get everything out of it, if not the entire car. You can always put in a C4 and sell the rest of it. There are kits available to swap them in.

Mayh3m you have an AOD sittin there, its not a C6 by any means. A C6 with a small block bolt pattern is quite rare, they dont have a removeable bellhousing like C4, AOD, A4LD, and the like have. AOD is a good trans, they can be built to take alot of abuse and they have a nice OD ratio.

It didn't. Its rebuilt by Texas Motor Sports with their parts. They're really helpful and I would definitely recomend them, you might want to check this out:
