Default Alternator Swap Out

Hi this is my first post on this forum. Great looking format by the way. I have a '65 Inline 6 and need to swap out the alternator. It looks pretty easy, but never worked on cars before. (One of the reasons I bought this car--simple way to learn) Any advice/pics of this or does anyone know of a link to download the service manual?

Thank you so much!!

Hello Chris, and welcome to the classic section of the Mustang Forums. You can get a ton of information at this section about your vintage/classic mustang. Now, regarding your alternator. I will assume you have taken off your alternator and took it to a parts place to have it analyzed. If not, then that is your first job. If you have done that, and you know that you need to replace the alternator, then it is an easy job which only requires you to take off the old alternator with two bolts, then replacing it with the new one. Take note of which wires go to which terminals. Get a piece of paper, and make a drawing diagram of the hook-up before you unhook it. Put it all back together just as you dissassembled it.

The battery perhaps?

Without a functioning alternator, it would run down.

yeah...isn't that how you do it???

just messin' with ya...the battery of course...it ran down just like natedizzle said....only problem now is starts but alt light is still on..I am 100% sure put all connections to alt on correct...where should I check for I guess for a bad connection?

any one have schematics for each point?

I've worked on motorcycles but never cars...so while totally new to me...I am mechanically inclined (I do all servicing and performace upgrades on it myself)
