Removing the smog pump...
Hey guys. I just removed the smog pump on my new '67 today. The belt was already disconnected and it seems that it wasn't doing anything. The only question I have is this:
When I removed the pump and drove it around the block, it sounded like it was running a lot more rich than it was before (more GLUG GLUG). I like the sound, but is that healthy? I just wanted to make sure I didn't do anything BAD. It was already disconnected, so I assume I lost some vacuum when the hoses were removed.
Is what I did okay?

I did the same thing on my 67 years ago and didn’t notice a thing. Running rich will burn the eyes of the person behind you but it wont kill the motor. Adjusting the carb will make for better performance though.

if you removed vacuum hoses make sure you plug the ends with a bolt or somthing, a vacuum leak is never a good thing. im so old i remember when a vacuum leak would cause your wipers to stop working
If you didn't plug those holes that is why it sounds like a V8. Bolts will not work. They will be the wrong thread pitch. Take one of the old fittings to a good parts store and they will have brass or steel plugs that you can get.
