Replacing a carpet...
When replacing the carpet in a Mustang, is there anything complicated? Or do you just take the seats out, tear out the old stuff, clean it up and put in the new carpet? I've never even looked, but I really have no idea...
Pretty staight forward job. Just check very carefully before you cut the hole in for the shifter. If you can, remove the shifter so the carpet sits down flat. I put my new carpet out in the sun for a couple of hour to soften it up and remove some fold marks. Someone has suggested that the small holes (console etc) be burnt in with a soldering Iron to prevent pulling. I havent tried it but seems to bake sense. Use good quality underlay, and if you find rust anywhere on the floor when you take the old carpet out. Its the perfect time to fix it.
Good luck.
Good luck.
You will need to do some trimming, especially under the dash for it to fit right. However, make sure the carpet sits down in the floor pan really well before trimming, and trim only a little bit at a time. Same goes for the sides. While you have the old carpet out, be sure the rubber plugs are in good condition and that there is no rust under there. Use POR 15 and seam sealer if there is even a hint of rust.
