um, NOTHING for this 66 is designed to handle the weight of this chebby, you will basically need to put a full tube chassis in it and all new suspension. you might as well make it into a drag car

you might as well sell the chevy motor and get a ford 302 and hop it up.

or a bigger ford engine but its gonna be a pain and costly...but why oh why are you putting a chevy engine into a ford car? why must this be done by all the hotrodders and everything....? why...why???

I agree with Twister. For all the work and money you're gonna have to do, you might as well beef up a Ford motor.

I'll tell ya', it ain't a project I would want to tackle. You will have to install a Mustang II front end first thing. Then, if you are going to all that trouble and expense, why not just slap a big block Ford engine in there?

the big block wasn't introduced to mustangs until 67. that being said, you will require a ton of modifications to upgrade on the stock design to make it work. it's not impossible, but it'd be easier if you had a 67 or later mustang. i believe shock towers will need to be cut as the 67 and later mustangs have 2 more inches of clearance (correct me?). as noted, the suspension will not hold up at all. i'm sure a grab-a-trak suspension kit will take care of that problem though. take a look in the FAQ section at the top of the classic mustangs forum section. there's some decent information in there about your request. learn what you can on your own, then come back.
and dont worry about dropping a chevy into it. if you actually went out of your way to get that specific engine, then i'd like to have seen you just get a ford engine. but if you got that for cheap or even nothing...well, that's just neato and i'd love to see it installed.

Go with a 351W. You can make a strong enging out of it and it will be a heck of a lot easier to fit in a 66.

ya, id go with a 351W, parts are easy to find, affordable, and there are plenty of kits to stroke it, like the 408 kit.

Are we being had?????

Best option
1. - sell the chevy engine and install a FORD 351W, lots of experience here to help you walk through the swap.

Second best
2. - sell the Mustang, buy a Chevy and bug the bow tie boys.
