Default C4 from a Bronco

Im getting a 351w and C4 from a bronco and will be putting it in my mustang. What would need to be done to the C4 to work? the bronco is a 4x4 so Im assuming they are different, right? I currently have a 3 spd in it std. (which i do not want in there anymore).

well i know that import all wheel drive vehicles work by having a sideways mount engine w/ a setup as front wheel drive cars normally have (drive axles in the front) and they have a yolk in the rear of the transmission connecting to a rear end. this is for permanent all wheel drive though. trucks usually have a chain coming off the transmission yolk area connecting to front driveshaft, which then connects to the front end pumpkin (much like a typical rear end). i would assume that you can use the c4 for a rear end setup with no problems.

You will need to change the output shaft and the tailhousing. The transfer case bolts directly to the trans case on Domestic 4x4s. To replace the output shaft you need to disassemble the entire trans. Its the last thing you take out and first thing you put in. Might as well rebuild it while its apart IMO... C4's are about the easiest 3 speed automatic to rebuild, next would be the Chrysler 904/727.
