um, the last carbbed Mustang was a 2.3L 1986...your question is so far off that I am not going to try to answer. Ford has used 1 barrels, 2 barrells, 4 barrells, inline 4 barrells, and even a spreadbore 4 barrell...

There are roughly 3 different 4 barrel carb flanges. The spread bore, like a Quadrajet or Thermoquad (not used on most Fords as they are GM and MOPAR carbs respectively) the square bore, like most Holley 4 barrels, Carter style AFB/AVS carbs, whats known now as Edelbrock carbs, and Dominator.

Some manifolds fit both square bore and spread bore carbs. But a Dominator is way too large to fit on a smaller intake and vicer versa.

For a 289 your choices are pretty much Edelbrock or Holley type carbs. I like Demon carbs for the street manners.

some 351C's were. as for the 429 I have seen both manifolds on them as well. But they are the only two engines offered by Ford that had them, hence why I said "not used on most Fords" If you see one on a 289/302 or a 390, let me know. I want to know more about that engine...

The Edelbrock performer intake is nothing more than a stock intake made out of aluminum. If you are going aftermarket, consider the Performer RPM or the Weiand. Although expensive, you can't beat the Motorcraft 4100 or 4300 carb for reliability and ease of tuning. The 4300 will have the polution inlet crap on it, so just use the 4100.

I think I have like 3 of them 4100's sittin around someplace... Nice little carb for nice little engines.

I could be silly and recomend a sheetmetal tunnelram with two 1150 dominators on it, but someone might actually believe it would work.

Ok thanks for the additional input. So, you recommend the Performer RPM with a 4100, over the stocker that I have now?
I just wanted something mildly better than the stock set up and wanted to notice that I added the power though.
