i shoulda left it alone
So I go to register my car the other day, the weather is nice and I take it for a quick cruise. Now I have owned this car for 20 years, but it has been parked for the better part of 6 years or so, life just gets in the way ya know? In 1991 I had the car stripped and painted, new interior and such, the car as a whole was a very clean southern ride. Well, I get back to my shop and I start digging at a hole in the carpet on the drivers side foot well. About an hour later, I've got the seats, console, carpet, and rear side panels out for a thorough floor pan inspection. The good news is the sheet metal is all original, never been patched or butchered. The bad news is the drivers side front pan is shot right where it meets the firewall extension, just before the torque box, and the rear has some quarter sized or smaller holes and should be replaced. There are a couple of small holes in the trunk pan where it meets the floor pan in the rear, these can be patched I believe. The passenger side floor has some pin holes, and maybe just under a dime size hole in the front footwell. The rockers are fine and overall it could have been much worse. I have taken the entire floor down to bare metal and am about to order some sheetmetal. Should I go with a full length pan for the drivers side?, keep in mind the seat pan area looks fine, or would you just buy the two seperate pans? While I have it all apart, should I just do the passy front while i'm at it? What would you do? I would love to strip the car bare and really go through it stem to stern, I'm just not sure I'd be able to put it back together lol. So I figure I can do one section at a time.

you know how many times i've said the same thing??? hahahaha
anyways, i agree, do what your feel comfortable with...if they are really small, you might want to check out the fiberglass mat from POR 15.
you can lay it, paint it in por 15, then let it dry then putty it with the epoxy putty and sand it smooth its really good stuff....it ends up as hard as steel and since u wont be seeing it it could save you a lot of metal work and money....
although metal is always better so if your wanting metal replacement for sure, then go for it....waiting will only make it worse.

Keep in mind that if you go full lenght, your going to have to take up the seat platform, and if you have to put a new one of those in, that a lot more headaches. If the floor is good under the seat platform, I would just go with sections.
