Default Overheating

My car doesnt seem to like long spring trips to work. By the time I get home the needle is a little too close to the H on the temp gauge. Do they have any electric fans or anything what-so-ever to keep my 289 cool?
Thanks!
Nathen

first, when was the last time the cooling system was flushed???Is the radiator plugged? Is the t/stat sticking. What kind of fan are you using??? IMO a stock 289 should not be anywhere near running hot.

Also, ensure that your gauge is functioning properly. After changing everything in the cooling system in the cooling system, with the exception of the water pump in my 73 F250, I found out that it was the gauge. [:@]
