Default Front sump

I'm in the process of getting a new oil pan for my engine build up in the fall. The guy told me the pan I was looking at (7 qt) will fit the 66 as long as its a front sump. How do I find out if my 66 with a 302 is a front sump other than pulling the pan off?

It's a front sump. The fat part is in front, right?

Let us know how that 7 quart pan turns out for you. I have been toying with that idea for some time now. Talking about oil pans.....do you know anything about windage trays? I often wondered what the benefits are.

Will do.. From what I know the windage trays help out allot. I was looking into that too, its suppose to stop oil from splashing up onto the crank and add about 10 - 15 HP they say. Have not made up my mind yet on if I'm going to install one. Not sure if there are mods needed or what.

It's a 5.0 right? They do have a different pan, but I suppose it depends on what pickup you plan to use. It probably will depend on which one fits your car, which may be the better question but I don't know the answer to that.
