Even with the Optimas, you still have to worry about it. I ran them on a camper, and even though they are super strong, they also have a lifetime span. I stilll think they are just too much battery for a classic Mustang. Especially at the price they charge for them.

But again, they are the best money can buy and NO ACID... They are gel so, no worries about spilling acid or anything. You say its too much battery.. 650 cranking amps is 650 cranking amps no matter what battery it is. I wanted something more than just cranking amps. I wanted safety and the best I could get. The extra $50 I spent is well worth the investment and the life expectancy is far greater than a normal acid battery by far...

I'm all for saving money of stuff but, I'm not afraid of spending it in areas were it will count the most.

Yep, the cranking amps are what you are after, and not the voltage. I am not against them, I just think they are too much money for the bang. I have had my Interstate on my 65 for about 10 years with only moderate charging during the times I had it stored. I had a maximum 2 amp charger hooked up to it during that long term. It is one of those chargers that only trickles enough to keep it charged. The dang thing cost me about 50 bux, but it worked great. Whenever I would come home from overseas, I would hit the starter on Ol' Yeller, and she would start right up.

i have a duralast in my stang i believe. I haven't fooled with it since i got it. that was 2-3 years ago. THat same battery sat in the car for years, without being charged before i bought it. The guy just cranked it up regularly.

i got a couple of the cheapie autozone batteries for f-250 last winter. they always seemed to crank good. the problem with my truck is the glowplug system is all screwed up and i had to charge the batteries almost weekly due to a couple really cold starts. for the stang (whenever she runs again) ill probably go with some thing more expensive.

I have no idea what's in the stang because its old and the label is worn off. I replaced the battery in my truck with a Delco, because it came with one, and that 6 yr battery lasted me 8 years running straight and I ran it dead ALL the time with my amped stereo system.

Can you still use the battery tray hold down bracket with the Interstate and Sears batteries?

I do in mine. Fits perfectly. You just have to do some measuring, and then get the battery that will fit in there.
