Hey I have another dumb question. I have some fluid leaking form my rear end and I was wondering if it's oil and if its the same oil that comes from the oil pan. I notces on 'Horsepower TV' today that their rearend took gear fluid?....i was just curious if mine does too...because if it does its probably empty by now....thanks!

The first thing you want to do is stop the leak. Crack the pumpkin open and replace the gasket. Then, depending on which rear it is, it may or may not have a filler plug on it. If it does, then you will need to fill up the pumpkin just until the 85-90 gear oil runs out of the hole. You will need a pump to do that though. Ask at your local parts place if they have a hand pump for their rear end oil. You will also want to add a friction modifier too.
If it were mine, I would use a 75W90 synthetic gear oil. Amsoill, Redline and others sell it.

Something else we could use in the FAQ eh Glen? If I took pics of everything as I do it, I would be workin on that car for the rest of my life!

The fill plug may just be a hole in the side of the pumpkin, some have square heads on them, others have a square hole that a 3/8 drive extension fits in. Some have fill holes in the rear of the housing. Fill it untill gear lube comes out the hole. Its pretty simple to say, but getting the oil in there under the car is fun, you will see what I mean..

Got any tips for clearing all of this fluid? I'm putting in a 9" that came off of a '70 Mustang and I might as well flush the fluid while its not on the car.

Other than cracking the pumpkin open, no. That is unless you dropped the axle and turned it up on end so the oil would run out the axle housing, and that would be dumb.
