Default drip rail delete

i'm thinking about just grinding off the drip rails (i believe thats what they are called, the rail just over the windows) on my 66 coupe. has anyone done this/know any pros/cons?

it can be done this is where the upper skin of the roof and the inner are attached together!if u remove the rail u must weld the seam and the fill with body filler! pro looks cool!! con lot of work, and when it rains water will pour in the car when u open the door!!

i was contemplating this on my 67 coupe. the front and rear sections are rusted out, due cto the vinyl top i guess. im almost positive i will repair and keep them, might look a little strange with out it. got any pics or anything or a car with out them?

It does create a clean, neat look but as someone else sadi, if you plan to drive your car in the rain, it will definitely get into the car.

I have seen a few with the drip rail removed, and they don't look all that bad. Not original looking, but not bad. Here is the MM article on how to get the old moulding off . I guess once you get the moulding removed, it's just a matter of grinding off the rail and filling.

well, the one on the passenger side is rusted out real good, so i figured, just take 'em off. it'll look cooler. don't really plan to drive it around in the rain, but ya never know when you'll be stuck in a storm. i guess i'll just see how bad it is and how i can fix it. thanks all

i was looking at the car today, i think i might actually look pretty snazzy now that i really think about it. i dont want to deal with rebuilding mine, so maybe i will just cut it off. the will never see rain anyways.

I've had this same question for awhile now and always forget to ask it when im on here. While dismantling my 67 rustang, i've removed due to the rust and since then have had no clue on wether they can be fixed or not.

So you guys say they look not too shabby without em' huh? Well, another thing to make the restomod stand out, why not. If anyone has any pics please, please pass them along. thx.
