Well i was in reverse trying to shift into first and the damn trans is stuck in reverse. Its a 3 speed and i believe it was never rebuilt. what could be the problem??

 

Had similar prob after driving our 67 stang the first 50 miles after purchase. We have the 3 speed manual with 3.03 tranny. Stuck in 1st about 1/2 mile from the house. Drove home, Crawled under the car and notice linkage nuts to tranny tightened up. Had to loosen the nuts to pop is out of 1st gear. Eventually, it keep doing it and tranny rebuilt was needed. Good luck...include pic of the linkage connection to tranny...

your shifter is hung. You might need an adjustment on it. Get under the car, and move the rods until, they both move again.

 

just drive backwards

 

oh and this happened after i swtiched my tire out for a spare. i jacked up the car pretty high but do you think this had any effect on it??

 

so i shouldnt try and force it out of gear huh??
