Default oh no, bad engine problems.

Okay guys. I messed up my engine. Im not saying whether it's a ford engine or not. I had a brand new crate engine sitting in my garage. IT didnt have an intake manifold on it, and i guess i didn't do a great job in covering it up. WELL, it turns out i have a leak in my garage, and alot of water has ran down into the engine. I pulled the oil drain plug out, and about a quart of water came pouring out..... WHAT MUST I DO TO GET THIS ENGINE READY TO RUN!!!!. please help.

Sorry to hear that.

You may or may not have internal rust. At a minimum I'd pull the pan and get a good look. A lot of times the assembly lubricant will protect the bare metal. If the cylinder walls and internal components look good, you've dodged a bullit. If not, you may be able to clean things up with an oiled down 00 steel wool pad. Just use common sense.

Good luck,

thanks Scott. I pulled the heads, and about 3 cylinders have some rust. I cleaned them alittle bit. but not with steel wool. The engine still turns, so thank god it's not frozen just yet. I will pull the pan later. I AM SURE there will be rust somewhere under there. I pulled a few lifters and cleaned them up because they had alittle rust. I hope the cam isn't rusted...
