Default Rocker Arms Question

Alright....here's my predicament. I'm in the process of going through my 302 and I need to replace the rocker arms...however the rocker arms that are on there we have determined that they are from a 70-72 429ci engine. Was there a purpose to this having been done i.e. to change the aspect ratio of the rocker arms or are they just something that was laying around a garage. The only reason i'm replacing them is because a couple of them are cracked. The engine ran fine but just tired but a lot of people commented that it seemed to have more power than a stock 302. I'm going with a larger cam with specs along .472 int/ .496 exh with a 272 duration and 112 lobe sep. Should I stick with what was on there or should I try and go back with what should be on there. The only thing i've been able to determine is that the motor and heads are a matched pair. I haven't been able to get to the casting numbers yet to get more info. Thanks for your help.

I would go back to the 302 rockers. I have no idea why someone would use those rocker arms on a 302. That's big block stuff, and I am surprised it even worked.

You aren't the only one who was surprised lol. I couldn't figure out why i couldn't match anything up...then I found a picture book. I wish I knew why they did that...surprisingly they worked very well but seems how im going with a larger cam I'll probably want to go with something adjustable.

When the big block rockers were installed did the push rods get replaced? If you go with different rockers you will need to remeasure your push rods if would believe?

I'm just guessing here could it have been a cheap way to increase the ratio to 1to7 over the stock 1to6 making more vave lift

The pushrods appear to be stock 302 rods....well the shorter of the two stock options. Everything seemed to be working just fine as well. I'm just wondering if i would still be able to use these with the cam that im installing because I would really like to keep the 1.7 ratio.

If it were me, I'd just buy some rocker arms for the 302 with the aspect ratio you want.

you could also go with a roller rocker with the ratio you want. I believe the 302 rockers are not ajustable you just torque them down and that is it.
