Ethics and Honor!!!
Well Like I said before...I did go back and checked on the title...IT DID have K code on it...I checked for the harmonic Balancer...IT WAS IN DEED the K code Harmonic balancer....I checked the Distributer....IT WAS INDEED The dual point distributer....THE FAN was the Hipo fan...It had the 9 inch rearend, it had disc brakes, it has the orginal GT type clamp on master cylinder...GT badges all over the car....The Door tag was the K code vin # door tage...He has the Title that has the K cod vin number on it....It was date 1972...has HIS name on it.......The only thing that is suspect is the front aprin...it has a "T" on it....
Now here comes the ethics part....If I buy the car, and I pull the heads off and see the sloted push rod wholes, and the screw in studs, then REALLY if I remove the Oil pan and see the THICK Bearing CAPS, and 3/8 rod bolts...GUYS.....This thing is a HIPO!!! I am THEN going to get the aprin to match the door tag and the title....what do yall think....unethical???? I REALLY want to do what is RIGHT here.....I believe in Honor and integrity.... AM I RIGHT FOR DOING THIS!!!

Well, it sounds like you have run down what appears to be a HIPO. IMO, if you document that whole story and share it with a potential buyer in the future, you have lived up to an exceptionally high level of ethics and honor. One thing lingereing in my mind is still why doesn't the number on the front apron match? What was the previous owners answer to that question?
Nice run down on available information to form a "resonable man" thesis for originality. I am sure you will struggle with skepticism anytime you tell the story though.

You didn't mention any casting numbers did you? A quick look at the heads should give you a C30E. It really sounds like you have found a 271HP K code Mustang. No big deal in today's modern world, but it was the thing back then. That Apron T thing could be from the crash I suppose, but I wouldn't think a repair shop back then would even worry about the VIN thing since the Mustangs were so plentiful. They would never have thought we we would even be having this conversation back then. The Mustang is not a VALUABLE car, and never has been. It is meant to be driven, and those who collect them for trailer queens are fools IMO.
Well nate the STORY of the fender goes, That the car was in a wreck on that side, therfore the fender aprin HAD to be replaced.......I body shop guy I brought along looked at the car and saw where someone had done some sort of bondo work near the cowl area where the fender hangs. I don't know Big Nate....
Now from a car stand point this is what we have....a 66 fast back that has GOOD floors and GOOD rails but needs new trunk floors and a rear quarter replaced....It needs a new trunk lid, a new hood, a two new door skins, and beed blasted all over and primed......the guy wants 6,000.00 and not a penny less......was at 7,000.00.....what do yall think?

Well the guy want 6,000.00 for it really from a performance stand point, it no biggie I would rather have a mexican 302 with 9.0 to 1 compresion, more practical, how EVER...I can REALLY be in the money on this one..I mght just put the engine and tranny to the side and get me an ol 302 and a 5 speed and stick it in the car and when i get ready to sale..I sale it with the Hipo 289...IF IT's a true HiPo though....which remains to be seen...

Get those casting numbers off the block and heads to determine if it a K code or not.

the casting code on the block doesnt mean anything, i thought, because hipo blocks are the same as regular ones.
