Default Replacement Key?

Turns out one of my neighbors has had a 60's mustang sitting in their garage for a few years. They lost the key. Is there anyway to get a replacement key from ford if i get the VIN, or do I have to find a locksmith? Hope someone can help, thanks.

Unfortunately, you have to get a locksmith.

Will the locksmith have to change the locks, or is there some way he could make a new key? If he has to change the locks, how difficult is that to do on an old car? Do I need to buy parts from another mustang?

The locksmith can do just about anything you want done. I suggest you change the locks for security reasons. You can have the locksmith put in new locks, or you can order new locks from Mustang vendors, and have the locksmith put them in. He can also make a new key for the present lock. Your call.
