429 Super Cobra Jet , tunnel ram and two fours for sale soon
OK gang , you're the first to hear about this deal. My dad and I bought a jet boat a while back with a 429 SCJ as a powerplant. I've got the boat and trailer sold but the motor is left over. I had intended to put it in a future project but I've got too little time. Here's a quick version of what it consists of ; 429 SCJ 4 bolt DOVE-A block and SCJ bottom end. Correct DOOE-R heads . Tunnel ram intake with a matched pair of Holleys. Nitrous fogger plates , switch and bottle with plumbing. Chromed headers, Factory SCJ valve covers , bug catcher style air cleaner , etc... If you're interested drop me a pm and I'll let you know when I get it pulled. Dean
By the way, the seller claimed that this engine was "moderately" tuned to about 500 horsepower without the nitrous. He said the nitrous was a 150 shot and when used from a dead stop the boat would reach 100 mph in about 4 seconds. I'd kind of like to give a go on an area lake but I've got the boat sold and I can't take a chance on tearing it up

If it was in the price range of cheap or I had more money than I do know. I would be VERY interested. The 71 would be alot more fun with that in it.

Ok guys the 429 is out and available for sale. It is an absolute monster ! My buddy and I fired it today for the first time and this thing pounds the ground. Here's what I know about it for sure.
It is a DOVE-A block as a CJ or SCJ should be. The previous owner claimed it was a 4 bolt but I'm not going to pull the pan to look. The freeze plugs leak after sitting for about 3 years and will need replaced.
The heads are DOOE-R as they should be . There are roller tipped Comp Cams rockers and triple valve springs clearly visible when the valve covers are removed. 3 of the bosses for the exhaust manifold bolts are damaged on one head only. They have broken shoulders but the manifold still bolts up and seals. This damage is to one cylinder head only. The other one is fine.
The intake is an Offy unit and the carbs are matched with vac secondarys and linkage intact. The nitrous plates are in place under each carb. The distributor is an Accel dual point unit. The scoop is a Mr. Gasket bug catcher style. The valve covers are factory Ford and are exceptionally nice. Most of the aluminum is polished including the intake, covers etc...
As I said earlier we fired this thing today for the first time since I've owned it. It has been sitting about 2-3 years according to the previous owner. We poured fuel into the carbs and the motor cranked about twice before it came to life. This thing absolutely thunders ! I'd love to put it to use but I really don't have any projects for it to go in right now so I'm offering it for sale. It IS NOT cheap but it is a bargain.
I'll take $ 3,500.00 for it as you see it in the photos on my shop floor. You will not be receiving the alternator or the jet drive bell housing. Air cleaner scoop to oil pan and everything in between. I've included a photo of the boat so you can see the quality of the whole ensemble. This entire package was very nicely built and maintained. The attention to detail on the engine really shows in the spark plug wires, looms , stainless hardware , and overall quality of visible components.
If no one steps up in the next couple of days I may list it on ebay... or I may put it in the corner of the shop. I've got a 67 Chevy truck that has a set of 429-460 motor mounts in it and I may plant it in there to **** off my Chevy buddies. They hated the stock 460 that used to be in it so they'll die if I do it again.
PM me if you're interested, Dean
