Default Ignition switch question

When my 67 coupe was stolen a few years back they messed up the ignition switch.

I replaced it with a generic universal ignition switch. I am planning to change it back to the original type of Ign switch. The universal ign switch that I used has 3 or 4 bolts with nuts on them and I used ring teminals at the ends of the wires to attach them to the Ign switch. How do the wires attach to the original Ign switch? Is there any special plugs or connectors that I will need or do the wires just go onto a bolt like the one I have now?

Also I want to install some items such as a kill switch and or fuel pump cut off. I read the section in the FAQ but it doesn't mention any specific types of kill switches and or how to install them. Does anyone have any more specific info?

Thanks for your attention

don't hold me to this, but as far as i know, as long as your kill switch is inline with the power wire(s) to the fuel pump, it'll work fine. just take whatever wire is hot to the pump, splice it and hook it to the switch. instant fuel cut off.

I used a switch from a PC power supply and wired it in series to the distributer. The car will turn over but never fire if the switch is off.

Doc, on the ignition switch question, it's called a multi-plex plug. The center is for the accessories. Check with a vendor for that plug when you buy your new switch.

Below is what I found in that article. I'm wondering can I use a 68-69 Ign switch and the coresponding multiplex plug. Accroding to the article the center accesory post was creating problems. So if I use a 68-69 switch and then use the bezel from a 67. Is that a good idea or should I just stick with all 67.

<<<For 1967, the Mustang's ignition switch changed for one year only. Think of the '67 ignition switch as a little bit of old and a little bit of new. It looks different with a fat barrel and a screw-on escutcheon, but it retains the '65-'66-style center accessory power post and multiplex plug.

This is the plug-in, '68-'69 ignition switch. Gone is the center accessory post. Because this switch's load factor was apparently too high, it tended to cook the wiring, so Ford included a new plug with the replacement switch.>>>

One thing I forgot to mention I purchced a set of locks one for ign and two for the doors that way they will all be the same key. Does the 67 ignition key cylnder fit a 68-69 ignition switch?
