PLEASE, DON'T DO THAT!!!!!!

i know you want a fb, but please don't murder a coupe for one. well, than again, if the fb has gotten the front end torn off and you replace it from a coupe, either way one dies. well, you had better have alot of time, alot of money, and major welding skils!!!!!

BTW, where do you live? i may be able to help you locate a good project fb.

Was a Ford mechanic for 6 years, diesel mechanic for 4. Went to school for Manual/Auto transmissions and have done about 30 million of them, lol (well not that many). But this IS my first project car. I know a lot about cars, but when it comes to body work, i'm not the best (almost clueless). Interior and wiring will be fine.... but finding a good donor and knowing how to go about restoring it is where stuff gets fuzzy. I'm not worried about how to make the car move and how to make everything work again... just the body stuff (and maybe some interior) I'm a complete noob at.

Why would you? If you're bodywork experince is minimal then this obviously isnt the job for you especially considering there wont be a whole lot of people who could help you on something like that. For the cash it would take why not just by a f/b?

Aye. All too true folks. Perhaps I'm trying to bite off more than I can chew. Regarding my wrenching skills... I'm fine there, but like you said.... a whole lot of body work that I can't do. I'm also looking for a 2+2 specifically - I have found very few and they are either fully resto'd for a bazillion dollars or are missing every piece of the body except the wiper blades and people still ask waaaaay too much for the condition of the vehicle. In my searches for the past few months I've come across a lot of Coupes that are really nice, as well. Reminds me of my first 'Stang... 90 Notchback. Absolutely my fave. Didn't like the shoebox GT or the Junk-n-the-Trunk Hatch all that much... I thought a clean decklid did so much more for the F-Bodies. I'm almost considering a Coupe now the more I stare at that rear deck!!! Much easier to come by and plenty i've seen with the body almost fully resto'd (ready for paint and interior) without motors n such for a cheap buck. I've got a lot of options to consider and I think for my first project car... I can deal with the interior and wiring n such - at least that can definately be done at home (with some minor exceptions if I need to hit the trim shop) but I should look for a solid body to work with... one that doesn't require much - other than maybe a skin here or there at the most. That would make my life a whole LOT easier

You guys have been great so far my first day in the forums Thanks!
