Default CHIP GUARD??

My paint guy is trying to talk me into using a textured chip guard from the bottom of my 69 to the lowest body line on the door, about 6 inches from the front tire down the door and body and partially on my lower rear fender all the way to the bumper... I dont think the body should look like anything but glass...the texture is eating at me.. What do yall think?

hi . i am a body man also and i think if you were going to drive the car all the time stone gaurd is a wonderful thing, but it does leave a nasty orange peel texture. i saw in the abrn mag (auto body repair news) a couple of months ago ther is now some crystal clear stone gaurd avaliable and from the photos of other car looks undetectible, but i dont recall the name. either way you go i would only do the rocker panel if you decided to do so and stay off the door

i've used this on my previous car (toyota celica) that i repainted and, as mentioned earlier, it's great for a daily driver. the texture really isn't that bad and it will look stock if done neatly.

At our body shop we spray a product called Armor Coat. http://armorcoat.armorauto.com/
A painter who has been applying this for a while can lay it flat, however don't let someone unexperienced do it. There is no edge like the 3M mask and has a 3 year warranty.

I was in PEPBOYS the other day getting some primer and I saw some spray on clear that was suppose to be used in place of a bra I suppose for trips or something short term. Suppose to wash off with soap and water. Don't know how well it works or how long it might last, but, might be useful.
