Default 66 convertible Console

Can any one tell me the difference between the console for a 66 convertible automatic with air and a coupe automatic with air? How long are they?
Thanks

The convertible console is trimmed along the bottom to fit the cross bracing on the transmission tunnel that is not present on a coupe of fast back. Both consoles extend just to the rear of the front seats.
Here is a picture of the console in my '66 convertible. I do not have factory air, so you'll notice the console goes all the way up under the dash.
You can get the diagrams to trim a non-convertible console so that it fits in a convertible. It's easy to do, just go slow with the saw blade. The plastic melts at a low temperature. It reminds me a lot of the plastic models used to be made of back in the '70s.
Also there are a couple of console on ebay right now. You can see the difference in the bottom trimming between the two.

Good luck,

Here's the one in my coupe with air. If you can't find a short console, you can always get a long one and cut it. You will need an end cap that fits at the end right under the air conditioner condenser. You can get those at just about any Mustang vendor.

IIRC, Mustangs Unlimited, or NPD.

Did you find the consoles on ebay? That's where I found mine. It was originally for a coupe. I found a picture of the convertible console, and used it as a guide to cut mine out.
SkipperCH (aka Walt). picked up the templates to do his.

Since then I've added a "Hump hugger" console that sits on top of the factory console. It has two cup holders and a center storage area with a padded arm rest that fits me perfectly.

Have fun with the new hotrod!
