Do you have a pic of what he removed? Cuz on the back of my 85 intake/carb area was my EGR, which your car doesnt have.

Yeah theres nothing back there that Id be worried about. The only thing that can be "dangerous" is the fuel line, which in your case is probably steel. So no there nothing dangerous about removing hoses from back there, unless he disconnected the the vacuum line to your brake booster (if your car has one).

PS: I think this new mechanic is trying to BS you into a lot of unneccessary work.
Absolutely correct in there is nothing dangerous about unhooking any of the hoses except the fuel line, but that ain't a hose. The vacuum lines and PCV hose and the choke mechanism (which is is a rigid line) are crutial to be hooked up on a daily driver though.

Yeah the PCV and choke are nice, IMO, not always neccessary. I cant remember the last time I had my choke hooked up.... or the pcv for that matter. LOL. i gotta '85 built with '60s technology. LOL!

I have a PCV valve on my 65 289. What do you mean by 60's technology? And, yes the PCV valve is necessary to get rid of the gasses. Otherwise, you build up pressure, and it has to come out somewhere. I guess you could just vent it to the ground, but the EPA may get upset.

That thing looks like a hot water bypass. And no thats not really neccessary.
And by 60's tech. I mean that there are only 3 hoses and 1 plug (to the disty). My car originally had a computer controlled carb., all sorts of emission stuff (air pump, charcoal canister, etc.). I basically removed anything that wasnt absolutly neccessary to make the car run, so bye bye a/c, bye bye cats, heatriser, all of that stuff. My car probably has less emissions stuff on it than yours.lol
-P.
PS: I dont drive it that often anymore anyway. gas is too expensive. And BTW it does have a breather .

Yeah, that is obviously water related. Was that on your classic, or your 85?
