You don't have to put coil overs to get it leveled out. New leaf springs and Kyb's will do it for you.

I would only go a 1/4 too. I cut the spring on my GTO, I did a half coil, and it dropped TWO inches. Now the headers scrape and the alignments are fun becaue the fenders are hanging over the wheels... It does look mean though..

Black is before, yellow is after. That is alot of drop for a half coil. yeah I know different suspension but the point is, go slowly or end up buyin new springs and starting over.

earlymustang: your car is a work of art. I can only wish someday my convertible is as attractive as yours. I really like the Style Steel wheels and real stock original look, also appears to be in mint shape. I recently put the Mustangs Plus 620 (1 inch drop) coils on the front of my 67 convertible and it looks great, also went with 15 inch Style Steel wheels to accomodate SS disc brakes.. I would guess my new height is pretty much what you are looking to achieve. Even height, a bit lower than yours, but not pimp low. I also put 4 1/2 leaf mid eye leafs on the back and new shocks. Seriously, your car is one sweet ride. Congrats.

dont be so sure. I put new springs on the rear of my 65 comet wagon and I got MAYBE a 1/4". I was pissed because the springs are fairly pricey, a lot of work to change, and all for basically no end result. [:@] and just for those who might think I got the standard sedan springs, the wagons use an 1" longer spring that isnt interchangable.

well, i'm gonna give the same thought here as in the other thread about cutting coils: smells like rice[>:]

really, they don't look good all sorts of low to the ground. kinda when they take a truck and drop it so far the frame scrapes over a grain of sand![:'(] you wanna lower something, get a square caddie and hit LA in search of west coast customs and have them put hydrolics in it.

i'm doing the whole lowering thing when i replace the suspension on my 66, but i don't wanna go too far. it's fine where it sits if ya ask me. i need to get in and out of parking lots with speed bumps and junk. i just watched a kid the other day with an integra that was LITERALLY one inch from the ground have to go sideways over speed bumps that were about 3 inches at the apex and still scrape the **** outta the undercarrage and (best of all) fart cannon. now i realize you aren't (at least HOPE you aren't) planning to go that low, but still, the concept is the same. IMO, roughly stock height it fine, you can improve the handeling in otherways (even tho a lower center of gravity does help).

Cutting springs is a hackers approach to solving a ride height problem.
You don't get out the die grinder if you want to chance the lobe on a camshaft. You get the right camshaft.

just lowering less than 2 inches to even out the car. nothing drastic.
