Default Lowering front end question?

I just don't like the front stance my 65 so I am thinking about lowering the front end. The back looks perfect to me but the front is too high. In the last 2 years, the rear springs/shocks were replaced and the front suspension including shocks and springs were replaced with new "stock/original replacement " parts and GT springs. (14" ss wheels and 6.95 14's)

The rear measures about 25 1/2 from the center of the wheel well lip to the ground and the front about 27 1/4.

How many coils would you recommend removing? How much can I expect to lower per each coil being removed. Thanks

Matt, if you change the configuration on your car, I will go through this monitor and bish slap you. Your car's stance is exactly what it should be. Don't screw up a good thing. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

one full turn should do the trick. However, it isn't an exact science so you could start with a half a coil and go from there.

IIRC a '66 should sit stock at 26.5" all the way around stock. Better double check that though, it's been quite a while since I looked that up. I'd suggest 1/4 coil at a time. It's amazing how fast it drops. Although coming down to where the front tires just tuck is going to be very close to what grocery getter said, of one coil.
If you haven't done the Shelby mod, this would be a good oportunity.
Also make sure you put the same spring back on the same side, or you may end up with an uneven stance, side to side.
The "Shelby drop" at 1" will drop the car somewhere between 1/4"-1/2".
Also removing coils will stiffen the rate of the spring, as there are less coils to compress. You will probably really like the improved feel, over the stock spring rate.
And you will want to re-align the front when you are done. Have them add a little negative camber, with or w/o lowering the upper control arm.

25.5" at the front in my opinion looks sweet. It just tucks the top of the tire into the wheel well.

Good luck!

I took 1/2 turn out of my 67, and I LIKE the way it looks. I had to give the guy at the alignment shop "permission" to elongate some holes at the top of the towers to get the alignment back to "stock" specs, but I've never had any problems from it, and it dropped it just enough to get the "nose down" attitude that my "hot rod" mentality likes... if it's not stock, TOUGH, cause I like it, and its MY RIDE!!!! Don't be afraid to personalize, unless you're into concours competition... but a half turn is the most I'd do at one time!!

Trust me, I would rather not mess with it but take a look at this picture and tell me if that looks right. Yes it has the right components but I think it just looks funny.

That pic was taken on an incline where the front of the car is naturally higher than the rear. Give us a shot where the entire car is on level ground.
