How would a cam behave with .050 lift and duration closer to about 300?

THAT IS OUTRAGOUS DURATION AT .050 lift. 300 is alot at full lift.

Well, thats what I have in my rebuilt 289. Intake is .475 lift , 288 duration. Exhaust is .500 lift , 298 duration. She idles well ( except my edlebrock stills needs fine tuning ) and has mucho gitty-up.

Whats "OUTRAGOUS" about it?

No disrespect intended but, a single plane manifold on a small displacement daily driver? Expect very poor throttle response and bottom end torque. You're going to have to twist that motor pretty high (and have a cam and valve train to support it) to get any power. You might want to consider Mr. Shelby's method for making good streetable power from a 289.... a decent dual plane manifold with a 600cfm(+/-) carburetor, a warmer cam, I like the old Ford K code solid cam but there are many modern hydraulic grinds that work even better, long tube headers and some decent gears. With a good set of heads you'll have a nice street combination that's livable in the real world. Just an old hot rodder's $.02.

You are exactly right. I had my head up you know where when I said that. Of course, a dual plane.

aobut 6cc. sorry someone had to do it. but if you have a smaller cam, then the 58cc will do just fine. but get the 64cc if you might swap cams later.

Heres how Id set you car up. TrickFlow twisted wedge heads, Ford racing E303 cam, 1.6 roller rockers, weiand Xcelerator, Edelbrock 750 CFM vacuum secondaries, at least a 1 5/8" primary tube header, 2.5" exhaust all the way back with some 3 chamber flowmasters. That right there will pin you back in your seat pretty nicely. I have that intake and even though its a single plane I have no drivability problems with it what so ever, mind you I used to drive this car in sub zero weather, still no problems. Also, get the MSD 6AL ignition, MSD distributor, and MSD coil. I guarantee this combo WILL suprise the hell outta you.
