289 intake manifold

You can also look at it this way, the 289 HiPo's delivered to Carrol Shelby got a Hi-rise and a 750cfm carb. (and it had a spacer between the intake and carb)

To make sure it fit, he used a low profile air cleaner, the now infamus large oval Cobra air cleaner.

So, unless you plan on turning over 7000 rpm's the 600cfm carb is the best match for a 289/302 and the Hi-rise will work. Also, make sure you get a good set of headers, that to will increase power and gas milage if you can keep your foot out of it.[sm=smiley20.gif]

The Edelbrock should work well and not kill your gas milage. They have small primaries with larger secondaries. FYI, the 289/271 Hi Po was able to use a 715 CFM vacuum sec. Holley (not 750) due to it's special heads and solid lifter cam. Good luck with your upgrade.
