Well, then there ya go. Get a factory replica from a mustang vendor like Dallas Mustang. I guarantee those are painless, right down to the exact color of wires as are the originals. Just find the right matching colors, then plug and go.

the only prob i have heard (other than the cost, $650, bumper to bumper, all connectors included and upgrade from the tube fuses to the square fuses) is one or two guys had a small problem with the amps on one fuse, it would blow out from time to time. they come with a detailed instruction manual for instalation, but having all of the adapters/connectors already could cause a problem getting thru the firewall and other places. this IS NOT from my own experiance, but my uncle's used them for a 37 ford pickup and a 42 chevy pickup. haven't heard any complaints from them. you can do that or there's a kit floating around ebay, everything EXCEPT the connectors, just the wire harness. you have to go out and find/buy all of the ends (alt, starter, lights, horn, blinkers, ect., ect.)

Now, that would really be a pain in the butt to have to track down all those connectors. And, you would have to do a lot of crimping. No thanks, I will just get the entire harness everytime I need another one. I dread going under that dash and replacing all those though. Especially with my air con unit in the way.

this is exactly why i like the painless kit. i'd rather have everything there and maybe a small snag or two than to have to figure out each and every single connector/adapter i need and order them all seperatly and hope i didn't double order/leave something out. simply replacing a fuse is much better than dealing with a melted/frayed/busted harness anyday!!

it is possible to get parts in europe too, but usually it"s really expensive, and it
takes a long time too ship em.

i got some friends here in the U.S., and they are helping me getting parts, that"s
not really a problem. it"s just now i have the chance to take parts back with me
(putting them in the car).

i cannot afford a frame off restoration right now, not money or time wise. So i
would like to keep it in good running condition, and do the restoration in 2 or 3
years.

and when that happens i'll come back to the U.S. for a vacation, and fly back home
with suitcases full of parts....

and so for now i'd like to take that stuff home with me that keeps the car running, in
a good a nice condition, since i could not take it if something breaks down, and i cant
drive my mustang for weeks due to delivery waiting time.

Go to a parts place like AutoZone and get the following to take back to Europe with you.
1. belts
2. water pump
3. hoses
4. Fuel pump
5. Fuel sending unit
6. Air filter
7. Intake manifold and head gaskets
8. rebuilt carburetor
9. Starter relay
10. Rebuilt starter
I think i am starting to figure some things in this forum out - quoting....

I took a look at some of these parts you suggested, and i decided it is a good and wise decision to take
some of those back with me, Thanks...

now where's my 650 i got stashed away for that painless kit?[&:]
i also already heard about painless wiring, not cheap, but therefore painless.
a workmate of mine used such a kit on a different car, and he liked it a lot.

when i do my restoration i'll definitely think about a painless wiring kit.

How about suspension parts? Brake parts? Electrical parts? Have you replaced any of those since you bought it? Those are pretty common things also to replace on our cars.
the condition of these parts right now is ok. Got new shocks, new brake shoes.
when i do the frame-off restoration in a couple of years, i'll get a new suspension, upgrade to front disc brakes and new wiring kit (painless wiring most probably)

By the way, what do you guys think of these "add-on's". I would like to add front bumper guards, GT exhaust tips, back-up lights, in optics. Functional i was thinking of upgrade to front disc brakes, convert from automatic to manual transmission, and add a little more power under the hood (so to a total of approx. 250hp)
I wanna have a real classic mustang, but i would like to do that stuff to uprade it from my 99.7% dream car to a 100% dream car.
Would you consider such stuff destroying a classic historical car, or is that ok?
Would you consider that kind of upgrades a restomod car or still a classic?

Shoot, My aim for 250 HP??? I dont have the funds to go out to the numbers i want, but im taking it slowly. Im starting with the top end, unless i pull off the heads, and the walls have a real large ridge on them. I want at least 300 HP, out of my 289. It's possible, becuase shelby did it in 66.

use the list Glen made up for you. my personal suggestion is as follows.

1. belts, at least 2 of each just for good measure.
2. water pump 1 should be fine, but buy brand new.
3. hoses, just as with the belts 2 for good measure.
4. Fuel pump, brand new pump, spend a few bux.
5. Fuel sending unit
6. Air filter, buy 2, they're normally purdy cheap.
7. Intake manifold and head gaskets, i'd get an entire engine gasket kit and again, 2 for good measure. worst comes to worst, you'll have at least one set for your resto 2-3 years from now.
8. rebuilt carburetor, i'd go new, but a rebuilt would work just the same. try the carb exchange.
9. Starter relay
10. Rebuilt starter, again, i'd go new, but a rebuilt would work fine also.
