Default Knock in my steering

I am a proud new owner of a 67 convertible. I am finding a bit of a knock when I turn the steering wheel to the left at slow speeds. I have power steering and do not seem to see the problem at higher speeds. Any suggestions?

Could be just about anyone of the linkages have worn out and now knocks under heavy load.

With the engine off slide under the car and have someone turn the wheel back and forth through about most of the rotation both ways. Watch the linkages move one should clank at some point, grab each one and see if you can wiggle it as well.

Should be able to see it if its bad enough.

I also own a 67 convertible and just redid all of my steering and suspension. It was brutal before, all cleared up now...anyways, post some pics of your car. congrats on being a new owner, interested in seeing it..

Thanks, I will check it out.

Apparently, this one was sitting in someones barn for the last 5 years (I got the leaves in the vents to prove it).

So far, I have changed the battery, air filter, oil & filter. I changed the transmission fluid as I was having some problems. I upgraded to a 4 row radiator due to overheating changed the rear diff fluid.

Given the long idle time, and general poor maintance by the previous owner, is there anything else I should evaluate or replace?

Here are some pix. It certainly has curb appeal!
The power steering pump was leaking like crazy so I replaced it. I will keep an eye on it.

It certainly does have curb appeal. Pretty car. So, did fixing the pump cure the problem?

It could be an upper ball joint or bushing bad in either the strut rod or control arms. Check it completely.

we got a 67 vert, and its scary as hell to drive too. It's got power steering, so it's already loose, and it's all over the road.

Replacing the power steering pump made it better, but it did not go away completly. I checked it out again and found the tie rod on the left side was loose. I replaced that and the knock went away. The steering control is much better too!
