but wouldnt those hood pin strings help in case your driving on the highway and the hood pops open?? or would the whole thing give way anyway?

well if you are driving along and your hood pins fall out and you aren't using the stock latch, your hood will prolly come up. the only thing the strings are going to do for you is keep you from losing the pins
