Default very disappointed :(

i found a 1973 automatic mach 1 with a 302 V8 with only 7,000 miles on rebuilt motor. car looks amazing and they are asking $10,500. i checked on insurance and they quoted me at 270 a month and i really wasn't expecting it to be that high. is that what i could expect on insurance on a muscle car? i am sure it doesn't help that i am only 20 but i have a spotless driving record.

And be a girl, they get a break at 23 not 25. How bad do you want insurance to go down...they have surgeries these days that can change alot....

Just a side note before you spend all that money. If you are woried about the cost of insurance, I am sure you don't want to over pay for a mustang. I say this because I don't think Mach I's came with a 302. However, 70-73 stangs are not my main interest, so I might well be wrong, but check the vin numbers and make sure you are getting an actual Mach I.
Good Luck

Run ypur numbers on the http://www.hagerty.com/index.aspx website for a quote. I plan to switch over to them for the stang insurance on my son when he turns 18 in a couple of months. Prices not too bad...

Try some of the collector car insurance companys, if it isnt a daily driver you may get a better rate, mine is dirt cheap, but then I am as old as the hills, with a little over three million miles of safe driving.

That could be for daily driver insurance on a classic. See if they have any policy where you can drive it for say 5000 miles a year or "sitting" insurance like I have...only $20 every 6 months and if I decide I wanna drive it once a month on the weekend I just call em up and leave a message saying Hey Im driving it and they'll add it on for a day under normal coverage. Though I don't think the $20 covers everything I spent so I have to go talk to the guy. In short explain to the rep when your going to drive it and see how it goes from there..

i went to hagerty insurance and with the online qoute i was qouted 288 a year. did i do something wrong? that just seems impossible

ok it is for the car to just sit there and drive every once and a while. if i get a car it will have to be a daily driver.

Yep...I got a good quote for my son on the hagerty site as well. IIRC they allow so many miles per year on the vehicle to be driven. Might be under 3000? You need to call 'em up and verify.

Be careful. Some of those places for classic insurance impose an age limit and you said you were only 20. I am 20 as well and have my insurance under my dad's name through state farm. My car is insured for $20000 full coverage for $150 every six months. I think I have like a 7000 mile a year limitation, which I don't even reach on my Daily Driver. I would check though about getting it through your parents.
