I was talking about a previous post that someone believed the Mach's didn't come with 302's.

It depends how well the insurance company's software is written if they'll let him claim a 6-banger as the engine type, and some want to inspect the car first hand, although it's doubtful they'd know the difference. [sm=grinangel.gif]

FYI, I only spend $120 a year for the classics (each) through State Farm. It does help having a couple daily drivers and a house.
i have state farm and they quoted me $1008 every 6 months. maybe i dcan convince my dad to let me on his plan, and i will just pay him so i can get the multicar discount, and since ill be going to community college i can get the living at home discount. or at least thts what the lady told me from state farm.
Yeup you get a living at home discount and if you get good grades you get a dicount for that too along with a full term every term (12 credits). I pay about $130 a month for my Grand Prix. I know thats kinda high but Im only 18...had my license for about 1 1/2 years now. heh...I expect the Mustang to go up though once I figure out whats going on and try to get it covered for every penny spent in parts.

if it's a DD like you want it to be, you are in to pay a few bux. i pay 140/month for the ABSOLUTE LOWEST AMT of insurance coverage allowed by law. i have a 93 buick lesabre (buicks are one of the top five on the list for lowest insurance cost cars), i also have one accident about 2 years ago this month (one more year and that puppy's off) and i'm 22 years old.

your rate won't change drastically till you turn 25 (i've checked) and if you are married that helps. since you would be better off (plus there's something like 3 years worth of counsiling before you can) spending your money on the insurance that a sex change, you're kinda beat there.

really your only other option would be to have your parents put it on their policy and list you as an occasional driver and pay them.

oh, you can also get a home owners discount. i accidently said i was a home owner and they wrote up my policy like that. on my ABSOLUTE LOWEST AMT policy it was 4 bux discount for 6 months, so 8 bux a year savings [&:][>:]

didn't read every post above, but safety features such as anti-lock brakes, traction control, and airbags among other things also factor into the pricing, and older muscle cars aren't notorious for their safety features

the biggest varible in insureace is the area where you live. somethime 30miles can make a drastic differance.

The 71-73 Mach I came with the 302 as the base engine. No 6-bangers.
But by saying its a 6 banger he can get a much lower rate...cause the car wont go as fast as an 8...its all about numbers.

Nonsense: The insurance company runs the VIN and knows exactly what it is.

I pay $72 per year, per car, on my classics. Shelter Insurance Group. Must be restored and driven less than 3000 miles per year, but they never asked how many miles I have on them.
As for full coverage needs: I buy a $100 savings bond every month and, if needed, I will use this fund to cover loses. Been saving without a claim agianst myself for over 20 years.
Why give your hard earned money to an insurance company when you can give it to yourself?

Ok, question. I currently am 20, I rent a house with a locked garage. How can I get on my parents plan, let the car be my daily driver, and stop paying State Farm $1,168.51???!? Won't my parents insurance plan know that I am driving it and insure me for roughly the same amount?
is that for a year or 6 months?

i'm paying, currently, 1728 a year. it will be going down in april i believe (don't remember what month i changed co's in) and than this month next year my final point (insurance point only) will come off from my insurance.

140/mo for a single car? Yikes! I pay less than that for two vehicles (2001 Sport Trac, 2004 Odyssey) with full coverage and 0 deductable with Pemco.

Pemco doesn't have a classic car insurance policy...just market value. Needless to say, I am looking at Hagerty.

EDIT: Has anyone tried American Collector Insurance?
