Default Blown Power Valve?

What are the signs of a blown power valve? She's been running great but when I come to a stop she wants to die and then acts flooded when I try to restart, blowing out black smoke.

Thanks,
Rich

Depends on the carb. When I blew mine I had gas dripping from my anular boosters.

I it's a holley, just take it apart and look, may take 10min. And if it is blown, it's cheap to replace. If not, you just learned what it wasn't.

It's the original Motorcraft 2100 and I just overhauled it a few months ago but I can't remember if a power valve was in my rebuild kit.

Anyway, as I understand it, the power valve diaphram is easily ruptured if you ever get a backfire... but my car has never backfired.

I'm going to try to pull it and look it over this weekend.
