sure it will grab a set of aussie 2Vcc heads, good to about 425 before they need work, you can make the curve look like a pool table under 6500

You'll have to make your own frame mounts for the engine and modify the tranny mount. Outside that, have fun! I've seen 2 of these conversions done, and the FE does look at home in that engine bay.

390 is a torque engine. Good for a driver or a truck. They can make good power for racing but that wasnt the intent behind them. 1970 428 mounts would be a good place to start for mounts, headers, and other parts, since the 428 and 390 are the same engine family. 360,390,410,427,428 are all the same engine family with quite a few interchangeable parts. All these engines are called FE series engines and they have a unique bellhousing bolt pattern. No other Fords have that bolt pattern. so you would have to acquire an FE pattern transmission for the swap, most were C6s as FE is a torque engine.

Building the Cleveland is a good idea too. Alot of power can be made with the C, keep the revs under 6000 rpm and you wont have problems with the oil issues. They can make plenty of power under 6k. "myshifter" has some good info on the Cleveland for high perfomance use, and if you want a healthy driver we can do that too. Clevelands are my prefered Ford engine to build, and we have done a few of them. If you have questions just ask, our knowledge is yours for the asking

I would rebuild the 351C. They are great engines (NASCAR engines are based on this design) and are great highway flyers.2V heads are better for the street and there are a ton of parts available. The 390 is a great engine but with the cost and trouble to swap in the FE you could put the money into the Cleveland. Save the 390 for a Maverick project. BTW a 429-460 will bolt in there as well with the same bellhousing pattern.
