Default .Dust cap removal? Quick help

The one dust cap( i guess thats what they are called) was already off my 9" but I need to get the other one off. If I pull on it, it comes out about an inch and then stops, but wont come off. Any suggestions.

Also, the one that was already off has chuncks broken off on the outside rim(not the inside where it rubs the shoes. Should I worry about this and replace it, or just work with it. Know the price on these items?

Thanks guys, Im tryign to get as much done tonight as possible...

Are you talking about the brake drums?

Must be..........if so, that is the rubber plug to take out to adjust the shoes either tigher or looser with the wheel using a big blade screw driver, or a special tool designed for that purpose. Just use a screwdriver to get it out. If needed, use a pair of pliars to finish pulling it out. I find it easier to take the hub off, and use my fingers to adjust the wheel until the hub will just barely fit back on.

De-adjust the shoes like Soaring said. You get to the adjuster throught an access hole in the bottom of the backing plate.

AHA, now I understand you want to take the hub off. Yeah, you can access the adjuster from the rear of the backing plate. Then once you get the shoes backed off, tap the hub with a hammer to loosen it. It should then just pull off with your fingers.

use a nice solid mallett and give it a few good whacks on the outside edges. go around the entire drum. as long as your drums aren't grooved, you should be able to pull/wiggle it off.
