What got you into Mustangs?
My dad bought his 67 Convertible. It took A LONG TIME to start liking it, because i HATE FORDS AND LOVE CHEVYS. Let it be known the only ford i like are mustangs. Then my teacher was selling a 66, and we bought it, and i really like that one.
my first car was a 65 6 cylinder - that light blue color. i traded it for a 67, 390 coupe, 3 speed. never got touched by a roadrunner or chevelle. a judge got me on the drag strip.
i loved that car and always though about what it would be like if i had never sold it. if i could only have seen into the future.

I was never a Ford guy growing up (1960s). When I started looking to buy a classic a few years ago, my preferences were 55-57 Chev or 63-64 Impala (corvettes and GTOs were out of reach). Went to a Sat cruise in Old Town Kissimee, FL, while on vacation in spring 2000. The Mustang vert's just popped up as an obvious choice...slice of Americana, more affordable than other choices, easy to fix and get parts for...like was said before...classic, cool, and cheap. Also easily recognizable...even little kids give me the "Hey mister, nice Mustang!"
Buying my first car. When I was 16 I was looking for a car, went and looked at a 75 trans am with a 455 4spd, drove it, it was fast and everything but it didnt turn worth a damn, not to mention it was difficult to keep it under control. Went and looked at a 87 GTA trans am, same thing looked cool ran great but as soon as you went sideways it was outta control. Then I found er, 1979 mustang 5.0 4 spd. Went with my bro to test drive it, it was SWEET, was A LOT easier to keep under control. Looking back at it now, it was slow as hell, but I liked it none the less. The first mod that was ever done to my car, it actually did to it self. One day I was driving back from school and noticed that it steadily was getting louder and louder, and faster at the same time. I looked under the car and right where the Y-pipe came together there was a big *** hole there (haha). I thought it sounded cool, so the next day I went out and got some universal bend it yourself pipe and some cherry bombs and made it into true duals.

My son fell in love with them when the "Gone in 60 Seconds" remake came out a few years ago. So, this year, when he turned 15, me and my wife bought him a 68 coupe and told him that would give us a year to get as much done as we can before he turns 16. Our idea was that working on the car would give him more incentive to get out from in front of the computer and see what the world looks like in 3-D. But, now I think I've messed around and got hooked on them myself. I'm already catching myself wandering what I'm gonna build for me and the wife next.
for me. my dad's side of my family has not owned only fords since the opening of Ford Motor Company. and to this day we still have not owned a non ford. my dad and mom both have owned 2 mustangs before i was born. my dad always told me about his 73 mach with the 351clevo. all my relatives told me that was the most BadAss car they have every seen. so i had always been into mustangs in general untill about my freshman year of HS. i got my 90 4 banger a year later. then i started to look for one for college, and at that time my dad brought home a 71 fastback. we spent countless hours over the next 2 years fixing that up. i asked my dad how much old coupes were and he told me i could still get one for not too much. so i did. but sadly he is now selling his 71, but at the end of summer he is buying a 73, which i think would be better.
For me it was a number of things. Growing up on of our neighbors had (I think he still has) two early (65-67) GTs, one is dark jade with silver la mans stripes the other is white with Blue stripes. I was in the same grade as their daughter, and got a ride home from middle school in the green one one time. I fell in love ( with the Car) the girl was a snot, and I was a bit of a nerd.
Then seeing other mustangs in movies and on TV. A few friends had Fox bodies in High school and the Army. I liked them but loved the classics.
I started to get into Muscle cars and hot rods when my sister-in-law got to gether with her now husband, who was driving a hopped up little s-10 pick-up. I started down the sport truck road a little, but then fell in love with Elenor in the Nick Cage "Gone" started researching and reading and decided I liked the big body stangs better. It has been down hill since. I bought my 72 coupe, and then my 02 GT. I don't think I will buy any thing else for myself. And I will do my best to influence my kids down the mustang trail as well.

I wanted and was looking for anything from 1965-1970 to make a hotrod/cruiser. My search started out looking for a 1968-69 Dodge Dart to install a 440 in. All I found were way over priced or junk. I always had Mopars and one fling with a '66 Olds 442. I found a '67 Mustang coupe V-8 at a reasonable price and decided that would do. Since I have had a hotroded '69 Ford truck for almost 30 years I was experienced with SB Fords.
When i was in high school my cousin had a 70 grabber blue boss 302. that was about 1980, from then on i was a die hard mustang fan. my first car was a 64 impala ss, but after that i went through a 71 grande,2 or 3, 73 coupes and two 73 mach ones. i hadnt owned a mustang for about 20 years till recently i bought a nice 69 fastback. its one clean ,super head turning car! the body is straight and rust free, the interior needs help, but i am helping! spent a grand last week.
