brakes again
i just got done putting my brakes on everything is new. we bled the brakes and i have a full pedal but it slowly goes to the floor and i slowly start rolling. what is the proper way to bleed my brakes
Yeah, even if there is air in them, you should be able to pump them up and hold them without loosing the pedal. Pump them up and hold them while someone gets down and looks around under the car. You'll probably see fluid coming out somewhere.
If no leaks that are on the outside, you may have a leak on the inside. A sinking pedal with no external leak points to the master cylinder. You may have a bad seal in it allowing fluid to slip past and the pedal to sink.
As for bleeding the system, one person pumps the pedal with all the bleeders CLOSED, then holds the pedal down while someone else releases ONE bleeder, the pedal will sink to the floor at that point. Have the other person tighten the bleeder and pump again, I like three pumps between each release. Some people like to do the farthest bleeder first, meaning passenger side rear, while others will say the closest one first, drivers side front. I have had good luck with both methods, and most often I just losen whatever wheel I am closest to.
Be sure not to let the master cylinder run out of fluid, because then you have to start over again.
If you bleed the brakes exactly like that, and it still sinks with no external leaks, its time for a new master cylinder.
Thats how its done on older cars, some later Fords like a Tarus with first gen ABS will not like doing that way.
