OK guys and Gals here is another engine vs engine discusion....

If you had to say which engine would last the longest...of course given proper maintainst. which would last at a 150,000 miles.

a) HiPo 289
b) 351W
c) Mexican based 347 storker

This is at around 300 to 330 horse power....some what mild in most cases...
which would you say would last the longest?

You know I have to say "B" as well you think about a 351W to do this probebly has around a 9.0 to1 compression, while the K code Hipo has a 10.5 to 1...tighter running engines seems to me are harder on components like bearings and the run some what hotter.
I think the storker could last a while given it only push 300 HP as well. It would not have to have that high of compression either. But the 347 has design flaws like the poor rod ratio and the short piston skirts which could alow more piston rock and slap. But I do feel it would last long than a HiPo 289...

 

B would work the least to produce that power and not require much for aftermarket support, and would require much less machine work.
