So I have one motor and one hood quesiton. first the hood. I have a 65 mustang, I really love the 71 Mach 1 hoods, does anyone know what that style hood would look like on a 65 (probably crap! but I'd like to know) now the engine. I have a 289, eventually I want a 331 or 347. Is a 289 too small (walls etc.) to bore to 331 or 347? 331 would probably be more realistic but I dont know. Thanks!

 

1) 70s hoods don't fit earlier body styles (which I am sure you know) and no one currently makes a 70s style in fiberglass for the early body styles.

2) 289 and 302 are same block so basically a rotation assembly that fits in one fits in the other

I like my 68 shelby style hood on my 65

 

the 289 block is just gonna go .030 over and use a 3.400 stroke, 5.400 or 5.315 rod and assorted combinations of different pin heights

 

Ya I know the hood wouldnt fit, guess I'll get the Cowl induction style hood. Thanks for answering the 331 347 stroke question guys.

 

the piston sleaves of a 289 are shorter than a 302, I would get a 302
