Default IP removal

Hey folks,
I need to remove my IP to swap out a guage. I know there are 5 screws, 3 at the top and one each under the big guages. I am assuming there are some studs or other fasteners holding it on....any idea where they are and how many? Thanks in advance

What are you working on? A Duece Coupe? A Packard? Oh yeah this is a Mustang forum, so what year of Mustang? I guess it is late and I am grumpy. I'm going to bed.

You will need to remove the speedometer cable after you get all the screws out.

I try not to think of myself as an idiot...but how in the hell do you remove the speedometer cable. I have removed all the screws holding on the instrument bezel and it is still supper tight. I can't get close to getting my hand behind the speedometer because of the steering column. I am I going about this in the right order....feel free to call me an idiot

You are not an idiot. They are tough to get out. You have to play with the dash to get it out far enough to get you hand back there to undo the speedo cable.

Once you get the screws out, crawl under the dash and go to the fender side hole under the dash and find the big nut for the cable. It's a blind fishing deal. At any rate, that cable has to be unscrewed before you can get the instrument panel out the front.
