Okay well I bypassed the ballast resistor and still no spark. And I am guessing that since there is not anything happining and the condenser is mounted to ground not to the dizzy then the coil must be shot. I have a new flame thrower that I was going to put in with the Pertronix so I guess that should be my next step.

You could disconnect the - side of the coil and read for voltage there with the + side hooked up.

With the - connected and disconnected and see what the results are.

Okay I feel really dumb…figured out the problem when I was on the way home from Checkers Auto. Turns out that I had put a lock washer on the distributor side of the dizzy isolator. I swapped it to the other side of the isolator and bam…car starts right up. Now I just have to set the timing and she will be running and on the street again.

John, Scott and Glen thanks very much for your patience and help. It is great to have a go to place that one can pick the brains of others, and get good response.

I am still interested in the single point distributor so that I can use the Pertronix ignition that I already have in hand.

Man what a relief.

Thanks,
Edd

I had a feeling it was grounded. Glad you found it.

I still think you should leave that ballast resistor out.

I did leave the resistor out. Now I am looking for what the timing should be.

Stock motor and cam, timing should be around 8-10
