If I was you I would start from scratch. Wire it like this. The wire coming out of the harness should be going straight to the + side of the coil. Loose the ballast resistor. The negative side of the coil should go straight to the stud on the side of the dizzy along with the wire from the condenser. Those 2 wires should be on that stud. DO NOT mount the body on the condenser on the stud. The condenser has to be mounted to ground. As long as you have voltage on the + side of the coil that will work.

Is the mounting tab for the condensor mounted on the dizzy stud?

By dizzy stud I mean the stud on the side of the distributor where the electrical connections go.

No the condenser mounted in a seperate place other than the dizzy stud. I am however going to try after work to bypass the ballast resistor and check it then. I will post my results. Again thanks for all the help.
