stupid malibu guy
Lol yeah GLen, but you have a V8 not a 6. Im not stupid. If i ever see a new V8 mustang come up trying to race me, i am going to smile and wave, and be on my way. I already tried to race a 02 GT and got beat miserably.
Oh yeah, and Tyler, I bet you can smoke Glen.
SIKE!!!

My nephew has an 02 GT, and my brother has an 02 Camaro. Yeah, they are both bad assed cars. However, just for grins, we took all three of our cars to the track one day a few weeks ago. The GT got beat by about 4 car lengths, and the Camaro was tiny in my rear view mirror.
The point is, for an old classic to come up to the same standards of performance as the new Gt's, Machs and Cobras would take a ton of money to make them the same as the factory new ones. Sure, it can be done, but at what expense? I would just rather have my old 65 for cruising, and my Mach for go fast.

I agree Glen. BUT, I cant afford a mach 1..... shoot, i cant even afford to mod my engine, but it would be cheaper to mod my engine, unless i buy a REAL used mustang.... for like a $1000.
unless you want to buy one for me Glen.

Shoot. I'd never spend over 20 grand modding my suspension engine. Well, i'd drop 20 large in the engine.
My plans one day are new TCP upper and lower control arms, bigger sway bars, good shocks, export brace, subframe connector and some other little goodies. I already have a monte carlo bar, and shelby drop. Now, i dont know how much power a mach one has, but i'll tell you what im planning for my mustang to have. Im planning on over 350 without a supercharger, and 450-500 with a supercharger. I will be totally rebuilding the engine, and turning it into a 306 stroker. Then, i'd move to the transmission, have it rebuilt with a shift kit, and a 2400 stall convertor. Then with some 3.25 gear, i should be rolling. All the things i said will probably total 15,000 if that. Of course there will be unexpected things. oh, and if i get really nasty, i'll get some nos. 16 lb injectors. which would be an extra 400 hp. But i really dont think 289 block could handle that kind of power. So what kind of power does that Mach one have Glen?

The 2006 Mustang (non-GT) has a stout 4.0l V6 pushing 210 horses. That litte car has more giddy-up than most of the small block Fords in the 60's. The car it is in has as much as 1,000 pounds less weight to push.
