Are the I6 tannys weaker than the V8 trannys in the classics?

Yes you can put a V8 C4 behind a 6 banger with bellhousing change. The only issue that may give you a problem is torque converter. The 6 banger has the flywheel on the converter. The early ones are 24 spline and probably all 6 cyl are 24 but but not 100% on that. I only post what I am 100 % sure of. As long as you check you converter and your input shaft they should work fine. And yes the 6 cyl version only has like two or three clutches in the reverse drum and only 3 or 4 in the foreward drum. And on the comment of you want my brain, you must bejoking. lol.
