suspension questions?
Im redoing the suspension on my 67 cp and i got acouple questions. Currently I have the rear end completly off and am going to fix that and then move to the front. I cleaned the differentil and mountain hardware all up and am considering 1" lowering mid eye springs. Sound like a good idea for the back? Now, if I do get the 1" lower over the stock springs, Im gonna have to get 620 springs or soemthing up front to lower it 1 inch as well, right? I have a 351W in her and Im mainly wondering if I put that much weight on those springs, is it gonna compress them too much? Or should i just stick with stock height alround? This is gonna be a nice cruiser btw
The 620 springs would give you about 1" drop on the front. The 351 isn't a big block and doesn't weigh a tremendous amount more than the 289/302 block. As for the rear, the lowering leaf springs are a good idea if you are replacing your stock leafs with all new ones. I would suggest a complete kit from Mustangs Plus. There kits are nice. I personally got mine from NPD, and am satisfied with it also. I got the street banit kit up front and 1" lowering blocks for the rear. Hope that helps if any.

Lowering blocks (that's what they are called in my neck of the woods) are blocks that are placed in between the leaf spring and the axle housing. this is what they look like http://www.mustangsplus.com/Merchant..._Code=lowerkit and are commonly used for people who want to use their current leaf springs as opposed to buying new ones.

I wasn't recommending the lowering blocks, I just brought them up because they are popular options for many people out there. I would definatley go with the new leaf springs if I were you. As for the 620's, I am sure you will be very happy with them up front.

So are extension shackles in the rear. Not a good idea either. Talking about handling problems. [:-] Personally, I like a classic Mustang to have the stance like it came from the factory. Some folks go to the extreme with lowering them so far that they don't even resemble a classic. Unless you are into serious racing and have the racing suspension to handle it, I would stick with stock.
