Default Not running well

My 289 ran fine, with a little smoke at high rpms, but now not so good.

It runs on about half power. My first thoughts were distributor or wires, but I don't see anything wrong with the wires and the distributor look fairly new. It was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago and I bought it about 1,000 miles ago.

What could possibly be the cause of the motor running, but not full power. It will stall if given too much throttle from a stop light, but easing into it at least got me home....slowly.

Thanks

sounds like a fuel problem. Check the fuel filters, and make sure plenty of gas is getting to the carb.

Could be a power valve broken if you are getting smoke and a flooding situation if it has no power. Check to make sure you have enogh fuel and not too much fuel

oooooh i just had this problem it drives fine slow but if you get on the highway it dies i would say kinked line, Fuel Filter, Fuel pump, bad float, bad needle and seat, or something clogging a jet or a damaged jet. mine was the fuel pump it died completely without warning pulling a hill that goes from 1000ft elev to 6500ft elev not fun with no power
