$4,500 year? Wow, I'm glad I'm not 16.

That sounds outrageous to me. I called the other day about insurance on a new GT and they quoted me about 1000 every six months. I'm 20 but I don't think that that would make that much difference. Insurance don't go down till about 25.

i would look around. try your parents. if really desperate to save money consider changing who's on the title. im in the literally exact same boat as you. i would never switch owner though, just an option though.

Sounds like a lot but depends on the insurer and what they cover. My son's insurance on his 67 coupe thru Amica is 1500 per year just for liability w/o collision. He is 17 years old. When he turns 18 in September, we will switch to Hagerty or another classic auto insurance as the quote for his rustang would be around $130 per year....what a difference a year makes...check out other insurance agents in your area...good luck!!!

The only thing with Hagerty adn some of the other classic companies is you are confined as to how many miles you can put on the car in a year.

Trust me I understand. When I was 18 I paid just short of 2 Grand a quarter for insurance on a little ratty 92 Celica. I had made my own bed on that one though with tickets ect. The easiest way to do it is get married to someone over 25. It did the trick for me.

Where do you live? I get my license in 6mos and there is no way I'm going to pay 4k/year. What company did you get the quote from?

I lived in Missouri at the time. My biggest thing was 3 speeding tickets, one of which could have been attempted vehicular manslaughter if I didn't get a cool Cop and Judge.
