Comp Cams Roller Tip Rockers
Has anyone that is running these had trouble? I have a set of 58cc 302 heads with Chevy 1.94/1.60 valves. I ran these heads with the early style ford rockers for 15 years with no trouble. I had the heads redone and upraded the rockers to the comp magnum roller tips. The pushrods and cam stayed the same.
After about 1,500 miles I got squeaking sounds in the valve train. I found a bent push rod and after inspecting all the valve stems I could see by the pattern that they haven't been rotating. The wear marks aren't in the center of the stem either. They are close to the edge away from the rocker stud. I pulled the heads and took them back to the machine shop. The guides are worn already and the valves are scored on the side facing away from the adjuster stud. I had to replace all the valves and the guides again.
Comp Cams tells me I may have the wrong length pushrods. I am going to buy the pushrod length gauge tool and check it as per their instructions. I can't see how the same pushrods that worked so well with the stock 1.6 ratio rockers are wrong for their roller tip 1.6 ratio rockers.
Any Ideas?

You need a differenmt length pushrod. i ran into the same problem when I upgraged my heads, to roller rockers. Even though they are the same ratio, each rocker arm style is different. I have the same sized valves on my heads too which are aslo 58cc, i love them, they flow great. The pushrod tool is needed in everyones tool box who builds engines, it is very helpful when trying to get the valve train geometry perfect. Let me know what size pushrods you need,. because i have some brand new trickflow ones that might fit.
